Danielle Clark scored a team-high 13 points with five rebounds for the Lady Hornets (19-12) – off the bench. Britney Wright and Daniele Ewert each claimed seven points, while Jasmine Peeples was held at scoring one point with three rebounds

Ariel Atkins scored 15 points for the Longhorns.

Texas managed a 17-4 lead in the first quarter, but State refused to let the Longhorns get comfortable. After nearly seven minutes without a basket, the Lady Hornets closed the first with two 3-pointers in the final two minutes to get within 18-13

ALST was still within five early in the second before Texas slowly started stretching its lead. Defensively, the Lady Hornets took advantage of several open looks from long range, making four 3-pointers, three by Clark.

Texas continued to race toward a big lead but defensive lapses and poor shooting proved beneficial for ALST. That all changed in the third when the Lady Hornets gave up a 26-5 Texas run, ultimately giving the Longhorns a large enough lead for comfort.

State shot just 22 percent for the game. Texas outrebounded ALST 50-29 and outscored the Hornets in the paint 40-4.
