BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kentucky State claimed its fourth league title with a 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 11, 16) win over Albany State in the 2015 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championship, Friday evening at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama.KSU SIAC Volleyball Champs152015 SIAC Volleyball Champions

The Thoroberettes (25-12 overall) placed four players in double-digit kills and were led by Kitrice Ploucha who finished with 14 kills. Micah Rogers, who was named the tournament MVP recorded a double-double in the title match with 13 kills and 12 digs. Payton Richardson was named to the all-tournament team and finished with 11 kills. Tahje Ochs also posted 11 kills and nine digs for KSU. Angelique Kyle tallied a match-high 43 assists while Kiara Rivera finished with 17 digs.
 
Tiffany Roseler, the Setter of the Tournament also notched a double-double for ASU (19-15) with 30 assists and 12 digs. Kaliah Carter recorded a match-high 18 digs and was named the Libero of the Tournament. Justice Howard led the Golden Rams in kills (nine).
 
After KSU claimed the first set 25-15, ASU responded and tied the match with a 25-21 win in set two. Albany State opened the second set on an 11-5 run. Kentucky State took the 18-17 edge over ASU but a pair of kills from Howard and Jahkishma Soto gave Albany State the 19-18 lead. Following a KSU timeout, the Golden Rams answered with a 5-1 rally pushing the score to 24-19. After a pair of KSU kills, Howard handed down one of her own from Roseler to win the set.
 
Kentucky State used early runs in the third and fourth sets to jump out in front of the Golden Rams as they were unable to respond and were held to just 14 kills in the final two sets.
 
KSU will make their fourth appearance in the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament. Kentucky State will face a team to be determined during the NCAA Division Women's Volleyball Selection Show. The stream is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
