SMYRNA, Del., Maryland Eastern Shore won the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country title and Florida A&M captured its fourth straight MEAC Women’s championship on Saturday morning at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center.meac logo15

UMES, who place five runners inside the top 10, scored 25 points to win its sixth overall MEAC men's title and second straight. The Hawks averaged a time of 25:49.28 on the 8K course.

Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khali Rmidi Kinini was named Outstanding Performer after finishing first with a time of 25:00.50.

Coach Earnest Barrett, also of Maryland Eastern Shore, was named Outstanding Coach.

Second-place honors went to North Carolina A&T State with 69 total points. Norfolk State (94), Coppin State (120) and Hampton (148) completed the top-five team finishes.

Florida A&M scored 22 points to win its eighth overall MEAC women's title and fourth in a row. The Lady Rattlers averaged a time of 18:20.58 on the 5K course and had all five runners finish inside the top eight.

Florida A&M’s Cynthia Chelelgo was named Outstanding Performer, and became the first Lady Rattler in school history to win the cross country championship after finishing first with a time of 17:49.60.

Coach Darlene Moore, of Florida A&M, was named Outstanding coach for the women for the fourth straight year.

Second-place honors went to Maryland Eastern Shore with 62 total points. Hampton (64), Bethune-Cookman (130) and Morgan State (141) completed the top-five team finishes.
