Jackson State's Michael Tinsley is another US athlete receiving a wild card entry by virtue of being the reigning Diamond Race champion in the men's 400m hurdles.

Hampton's Francena McCorory will make the trip to Beijing as a member of the US 4X400m relay team and Coppin State's Christina Epps has accepted an invitation to compete in the women's triple jump after winning the event at the US Nationals.

Two members of the Jamacian National Team formerly raced for Johnson C. SmithDanielle Williams and Shermaine Williams will run in the women's 100m hurdles.

Approximately 2000 athletes from more than 200 nations are expected to compete in the Chinese capital from August 22-30.
